Why do doctors say 1 1/2 to 3 years is the ideal space between pregnancies?

Why do doctors say 1 1/2 to 3 years is the ideal space between pregnancies?

that sounds ideal. but thinking about the children here is my point of view.

my sister and I are four years apart...we never got along with each other..and always had battles/clashes..we never really connected.

my brother and I are two years apart...and we are much closer since we are going thru things mostly at the same age.

though i do love my siblings no matter the age difference i believe i would have a two year spand between children...
gives your body time to heal.....gives good spacing between ages.
