I am 24 years old, engaged, and i am AB positive. Will this have any effect on future pregnancies or my health? The only time blood type will have any effect on a pregnancy is if the mother is Rh鈥?and the father is RH+. An Rh鈥?mom and an Rh+ dad have a good chance of producing a baby who is Rh+, which can pose problems during subsequent pregnancies. Here鈥檚 how it works: Some of the baby鈥檚 blood cells may cross into the mom鈥檚 circulation, prompting her body to form Rh antibodies. This normally doesn鈥檛 create difficulties during the first pregnancy, but if a woman conceives another Rh+ baby, the antibodies can destroy fetal blood cells, causing anemia, jaundice and even heart failure in the baby. Since you are AB positive, you have nothing to worry about. The AB part will only help determine your future child's blood type. No big deal. Source(s): http://www.todaysparent.com/pregnancybir... I am assuming you are talking about blood. No, it will not have an affect on your baby. They do check your blood for being RH positive. But with an AB blood type, I am pretty confident you can receive both A and B blood in case of a life or death situation. |
