Wild game in pregnancy?

Does anyone know if eating wild game in pregnancy is okay? I have thawed out a pheasant and I was just thinking that it may have different bacteria or something on it and don't want to take any chances! Any links would be helpful as well........thanks!

i thought this was a completely different question too lol

but yes you can as long as you cook it throughout, and it isn't rare at all. must have it cooked above 150 degrees from what i hear. Source(s): my sister-in-law ate pheasant while pregnant and thats what her doctor told her....
Wow, I totally thought this question was about something else.

I think wild game is fine as long as it's cooked properly but I'm not an expert.
If it has been handled properly it is probably better for you.

Feeding processed animals antibiotics breeds drug resistant bacteria inside them. Giving beef growth hormones can't be too good either.
As long as you cook it thoroughly you are fine, I like to use it in chicken and noodles, pheasant and noodles is awesome.
Why not? You can be sure our ancestors did it all the time. If there was anything wrong with it, none of us would be here. Cooking it thoroughly will kill any bacteria that may be in it, so you have nothing to worry about.
No!!! There is a risk of ingesting lead due to the "shot" that is used to hunt and kill the game. Lead is very dangerous for a developing fetus. If you really feel like eating something that taste along the same lines, but is safe from lead, buy a cornish game hen at the grocery, they are raised, not hunted.
