Can a yeast infection be an early sign of pregnancy? |
I have ONLY ever had yeast infections when on the pill AND antibiotics together. I am not on either (for over year now). I have had no change in diet or routine. We have been tying to get pregnant for 1 year-our next step is fetility drugs/testing. I was on the pill for several years and during that time by doctor had me not cycling due to severe PMS. It is 5 days until my next period. No- a yeast infection would not be a sign of pregnancy. Pregnancy signs and symptoms occur either at the time of a missed period, or a week or two later. Symptoms include missed period, fatigue, tender and swollen breasts, implantation bleeding, nausea and or vomiting, food aversions, frequent urination, and increased sensitivity to odors. Implantation bleeding occurs a bit earlier than expected, and it is scanty, spotty, pinkish and not red and heavy like a period, and does not follow the normal pattern of a period (light to heavy to light). Not everyone experiences symptoms, and some people feel some but not all symptoms. Some women only experience a missed period, which is normal for them. If you feel you may be pregnant, your best bet is to wait at least two weeks after a missed period, and see your doctor for a blood pregnancy test as this is the most accurate way of testing. A yeast infection is caused by an overgrowth of yeast that normally inhabit the body. Things that encourage the overgrowth of yeast include using antibiotics, having high estrogen levels such as during pregnancy, hormone replacement use and birth control pills, having diabetes, having an impaired immune system, using corticosteroids, being overweight, having the genital area exposed to moisture for a long period of time, using an IUD, and having a partner with symptoms of a yeast infection. Yeast infections can occur during pregnancy, but would not be an initial sign that you are pregnant. Source(s): I am a nurse for over 22 years Yes, yeast infection is common in pregnancy. However, it could be weather, your undergarments, or a few other factors. There are HPT that can detect pregnancy before your missed period, but the best way to know... wait the 5-7 days before testing to be sure! Best of luck. Candida can overgrow for many reasons. Stress, pregnancy, and illnesses that affect the immune system may allow yeast to multiply, as can certain medicines. These include some birth control pills and steroids. Hormonal changes, as caused by pregnancy can give way to ph levels changes in the vulvar area making it more suceptible to yeast infections. Just a yeast infection cannot and should not be used as a certain sign of pregnancy, but it may mean you are. There are other not too talked about signs of pregnancy besides the common ones. Are you more tired or feel sleepy? Do you have the need to be closer to your partner or totally want to avoid him? Is your sense of smell keener or more sensible? Are you more emotional lately? Do you feel sick by the smell of cigarrete smoke? If so, i'd start thinking about getting good news. |
