How Are Bipolar Disorder and Premenstrual Syndrome Diagnosed? |
How are a) Bipolar Disorder, and b) Premenstrual Syndrome diagnosed? Are these things determined through, say, readings of brainwave frequencies, blood tests, just plain old therapy...? Is it common to misdiagnose these conditions? Thanks Bipolar Disoredr is a very hard disorder to diagnose...it takes years of observation to pinpoint and diagnose this disease. And it is very common to misdiagnose these disorders...both of these disorders are generally diagnosed through therapy sessions and observations of mood patterns. Source(s): I work at a state run psychiatric facility... by emotional highs or lows. depression, periods of elevated excition, forgetfullness etc. Bipolar is a mental disorder. PMS is a hormonal disorder. Do not get the two confused. I am not too sure how medically the doc diagnosed, but i got a friend who had the bipolar disorder n she told me she just get depress suddenly n she can be staring at nothing for hours..I remember reading e book by Dave preztle, where he is abuse by her mom(had bipolar disorder). This is like in the 60s where bipolar doesn't even have a name yet, So i guess if left untreated, it might be dangerous. PMS usually isn't "diagnosed" so much . . as for bipolar, it takes observation from a trained professional. |
