How should I prepare for gallbladder surgery?

I am scheduled for this friday and just don't really know what to expect.

first do what they instruct abuot not eating so many hours ahead of time..and try not to eat alot of fatty ,fried or dairy foods in your last meal before the surgery.....it is done mostly by laproscopic procedures...you will have a few staples probably in your abdomen in different areas..they will hurt some but the doctor will give you something for the pain and send you home with some...this surgery is a pretty common one that is done many times a day all over the US...and once you heal up and are eating regular foods again you will feel alot better than you did before the surgery....I know I did !!!! Source(s): medical provider and not missing my gallbladder anymore!!!!!
Your Doctor should have given you instructions and or an information sheet prior to your surgery so that you would be prepared. Sorry I do not know.
i had gallbladder surgery in 1997 and the day i was admitted to hospital it was done the dr makes 4 tiny slits and removes it you have some pain but you go home the next day as long as you are fine and no fever think he told me not to lift anything for a week then the stitches come out
They should had given you a form to read from the Dr. or hospital. I had mine removed years ago. Simple out=patient. Pem
ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ASK GOD TO BE WITH YOU AND I WILL PRAY FOR YOU
I had gallbladder surgery in December. One important question, are you over-weight? I ask because that actually makes a difference. The operation itself isn't too bad, it's the pain after. They give you pain killers, but it hurts to move. That's where the weight factor comes in. Every time you try to get up or shift side to side you move your stomach. If you're over-weight like I was, that's pretty painful. As long as you don't move too much, you should be o.k. The whole experience isn't too bad. Good luck and I hope everything comes out well.
