How to prepare my 4 year old for my surgery. I will be an hour away for 1 week and down and out for a month? I'd more than happy to offer advise, but I'd need a bit more info tell her to behave and wish you good luck and tell her the importance of your surgery so she understands. try to find a good book about hospitals and explaining with it, let him/her visit you... Good Luck! Read her books on hospitals and doctors, so that she has some idea of what will be going on. Explain to her what will happen specifically. You didn't say whether or not she will be visiting when you will be gone or whether or not she will be able to talk to you on the phone. I would try to one or both of these things, as often as possible while you are gone. You could also make up a special card or gift for each day you will be gone. Then she could open up one each day, she will also be able to tell how many days until you return. |
