My progesterone levels are low, can any one tell me their experiences with natural progesterone cream?

I have found out through a saliva test that my progesterone levels are low, it has been suggested that I try a natural progesterone cream, has any one had any experience with this they can share with me good or bad? I am also trying to decide if I dare approch my MD about this as the testing was done at the request of doctor of chinese medicine. So I did the test and mailed it to the lab. Should I bother? How receptive have your doctors been when presented with this? Or is the better alternative just to order it off the net from the sites my doctor of chinese medicine has recommended?

I will add it was the chiense doctor of medicine that suggested I try to get my MD to prescribe the progesterone cream and it is not available to purchase in Canada and if the doc would do so it would most likely be covered by my husbands health insurance plan.

With respect Tess, you have got things the wrong way around and need to re-arrange your thinking a bit... the idea behind seeing someone like the Chinese herbalist is to make the changeover. I am a medical herbalist and we get this all the time - you make the change - in other words the Chinese guy becomes your primary health carer, not an MD. That is why it is called alternative medicine - it provides an alternative,

He is right on the money with the salivary test as they are a much better indicator than blood tests. Blood tests only tell you what is happening in blood, not in cells. In other words, blood tests don't tell you about the cellular uptake of hormones, whereas the salivary test does. An MD wouldn't know how to interpret the salivary test or know anything about it's scientific basis which is why they are restricted to blood tests. I use the blood tests sometimes, but only for gross disturbances in hormonal imbalances where they are quicker for result times, etc.

Stick with the Chinese doctor and follow his recommendations - or somebody like him - you will enjoy much better health than if you go to an MD. MD's have nothing for you but blood tests and drugs, whereas diagnosis by natural physicians will give you a more insightful look into your health and stop problems before they get a roll on, and a much wider choice of medicines and treatment protocols.

Progesterone cream is only one of a number of options available to you, and as with all things, some patients respond and some don't.
