Anyone do weekly progesterone shots to prevent pre term labor? Did it help? what week did you deliver? |
I started premature labor with my first son at 30 weeks. We tried several medicines to help stop labor but finally delivered at 36 weeks. Dr thought it would be a good idea to start progesterone shots at 16 weeks of this pregnancy (currently 23 weeks) to help prevent or delay early labor again. Just curious as to others success rates after being on it. I was on it from week 33-until the day I delivered at 36wks6d I did weekly progesterone shots starting at 16 weeks & delivered at 38 weeks. I did some research at the time (it was 4 years ago) & I THINK I saw a statistic that it reduced the risk of PTL by 30+ %. It was a long time ago & I don't remember for certain, so do your own research before you quote that number to anyone. I'm newly pregnant again & on my first visit, the doctor told me that they have been having really good success with the progesterone shots. well i went in when i was 28 weeks and had them and it can actually cause alot of things to go wrong, like high blood pressure, babies heart rate to go up so if you deliverd by 36 weeks yo should be good to go without them I do! :) I'm 25 weeks and have been getting them since 14 weeks. |
