What causes rheumatoid arthritis? I heard its a virus.?

Does anyone have information that it is related to leukemia?

Doctors do not know why people develop rheumatoid arthritis. It is a disease known as an "autoimmune" disease in which your own immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue, causing inflammation that damages your joints.

Yes, it is an autoimmune disease .. In Alternative medicine, the effects of food allergies in triggering this response is considered worthy of investigation. Often times one is allergic to common foods which you eat each day. I start mucous discharge when I eat wheat so since my grandmother had hands crippled from rheumatoid arthritis, I am careful about what I eat and so far so good. Some people are allergic to dairy ( it is called a lactose intolerance) and will get gas, mucous or headache after eating it.

rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease. The body cant distinguish between good cells and bad cells and goes on the attack thinking something is wrong when its not.

so, no, it is not due to a virus. it is due to ones own immune system attacking your bodies own tissues.
