Do you have rheumatoid arthritis? What employment/job are you in?

I'm asking, because having just been diagnosed, I'm concerned I might have to retrain in the future, so I'm just trying to get some answers and information from people more experienced than I am about what my options might be. My current job involves a lot of computer work, which, if my hands get worse, might not be as suitable for me as it is now.
Thank you for your help!

sorry to hear this. there are a couple of different types of arthritis, rheumatoid and oesteo - neither are very pleasant. i have oesteo and the pain is bad enough and in some ways the deformities etc, apart from being obvious can really upset you as it is a constant reminder.

first talk this over with your doctor and go on the net under such things as 'medical' sub heading arthritis then rheumatoid and learn as much as you can.
i do not know where you are but in lots of places there are what are called arthritis support groups, see if you can find one and talk over your concerns with them and you will not only learn how to cope with this but things that have helped others and try them all.

you may need to retrain but be aware and face this if and when you come to it. in the meantime take one day at a time and enjoy life this is not the end of the world just pretty restrictive.

hang in there.

My best friend has that. He used to work in a call centre and had it hips, ankles and knees replaced. Work have to make adjustments for you, like a chair or a special mouse.
