Rheumatoid Arthritis or Something Else?

I am a 22 year old female in nursing school. In the past year I have developed debilitating pain that has caused me to withdraw from school for a semester. I have severe joint paint with cracking and popping in all my joints on both sides of my body. I also have stiffness in my joints when I wake up. No one has been able to diagnose me definitively. I have been on treatment for fibromyalgia with no improvements. My ESR was elevated, and the ANA and test for SLE were both negative. I have had some degree of symptoms since my teens, which have gotten progressively worse. My mother has Rheumatoid Arthritis. I am at my wits end. Has anyone else had similar experiences or know what the heck is going on with me?

Also, I have been tested for Lyme Disease and the results were negative. Sorry, forgot to mention that before.

The blood test for Rheumatoid Arthritis is for the Rheumatoid Factor, not ANA. As for ESR, depends on how high it was, along with your white cell differential. I find it odd that you were not tested for the Rheumatoid Factor. Cracking and popping is normal, most people have cracking and popping joints. Stiffness in joints, well that depends on how long? Ten Minutes, 30 minutes, one hour, one hour fifteen minutes? Your symptoms do not seem to match with RA symptoms.

get tested for Lyme disease.
it can produce very similar symptoms and gets worse if not treated.
