Is anyone familiar with a diet for rheumatoid arthritis?

I've been to about every website on the internet researching. A lot of the websites offer the same advice about avoiding red meat, animal fats, and drinking lots of water. Some of the sites differ on whether you can eat nuts, cranberries, tomatoes, and canned foods. I was recently diagnosed and I'm not thrilled with the thoughts of taking medications for the rest of my life. I'm an RN and know probably too much about the side effects and complications of some of these medicines. Thank you!!

hi there im glad you are a nurse and you understand the effects of prolong medication. what im sharing you is info from the book of Enrique Garza( Guide to Natural Remedies for Health and Well Being). this book has been my guide for several years now. he suggested to:
1. do not consume red meat, it contains fatty acids (aracidonic acid) which contribute a lot to swelling of the joints.
2. take fish oil with omega 3, contains EPA which blocks the process of convertion of aracidonic acid to prostaglandins causing pain. 6 caps daily, 2 caps before ea meal
3. take lots of sardines, tuna, codfish and olive oil
4. lots of oranges and grape fruit for vit c
5. lots of raw vegies in salads
6. lots of strawberries, cherries, and cranberries
7. less of salt, sugar and flour
8. to ease pain, take willow tea but if you are allergic to aspirin, dont take this. willow tea contains a substance similar to aspirin.
9. garlic capsules, 6 caps, 2 cap before ea meal. it is powerful antioxidant and strengthen immune system.
10. aloe vera juice with cranberrries, 4 to 6 ounces daily, 2 ounces before ea meal. it is anti-inflammatory and pain inhibitor.
11. take chinese lycium with licorice, inti-inflammation, stimulate formation of anti-bodies.
12. aloe vera lotion with eucalyptus, apply to affceted area to ease pain and inflammation.
13. take vit A, B1, B12, C, and E. minerals selenium, manganese, and calcium.
there you go. i hope this helps.
I have read that a gluten-free diet can help.

Wish you a lot of luck. I've had RA for 9 years now but haven't found anyone, including 3 different doctors, who agree on what diet to follow. I've tried for a while but ended up on meds, currently using Humira with little or no side effects other than it's high cost to even some insured people. Give a shout on messenger if you find something that works for you.

You can try ( Hijama ) or cupping therapy, it is a Muslim alternative medicine,a simple medical procedure where the bad blood in your knee are is sucked out at certain times of the lunar month, and it does wonders, i had it done for my sinusitis and herniated disc ( 4L & 5L ) and i am almost totally cured. No side effects whatsoever and no medicine to take.
