What can you advice me? i have a rheumatoid arthritis. i'm only 23.? My sister and I both have RA. I can sympathize with you, I understand just how difficult this disease is. First order of business is to educate yourself. Here is a very helpful link which contains a wealth of information. http://www.arthritis.org/conditions/dise... I don't know what arthritis drugs you have been prescribed, but here are links to some of the most common. http://arthritis.about.com/od/mtx/methot... http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/drugi... http://arthritis.about.com/od/plaquenil/... http://www.enbrel.com/?channel=ps&subcha... http://www.humira.com/default.aspx?s_kwc... And one about diet and exercise. http://arthritis.about.com/od/prevention... As I've stated, my sister and I both suffer from this. RA affects everyone differently, some worse than others. If you are feeling badly, pamper yourself. Don't listen to others who might try to diminish the pain and disability you are feeling. Only you know how this disease affects you. Where my sister is affected only in her hands and feet, every joint in my body has proven painful and swollen at one time or another. She runs, I hobble. She works outside the home, I have filed for disability. Her disease has been active for 5 years now. Mine, for less than 2. We both have the same rheumatologist. We just happen to have 2 very different forms of the same disease. Don't be afraid to ask for help when needed. Have others in your family open jars that prove difficult, buy a seat extender for your toilet so that you are not straining to stand up, install a bar in your shower for those really unsteady days. If you don't have a speaker phone, invest in one. Or, fasten a velcro loop, large enough to slip your hand through, to the back of your handset. No more trying to hold the telephone with swollen, aching fingers. There are many other little tricks for getting through the day. Find what suits you, and don't be ashamed to do it. If you tire when out shopping or running errands, use a wheelchair. I have on several occasions because I know what pushing myself does to my health. If at all possible, spend some time swimming every day in a heated pool. Your body becomes weightless, taking the pressure off sore joints. Gentle stretching exercises done in a heated pool can do wonders for how you feel. It's important for you to stay warm and get a good night's rest. Electric blankets serve this purpose nicely. You'll warm up and drift off into a deep sleep in no time. If you are tired during the day, take a nap. I've found that if I take my prednisone at night, I awaken with much less pain and stiffness than taking my meds first thing in the morning and then having to wait. You do what works for you with this disease. That's really all that you can do. Your question was rather vague, but I hope that I've helped in some way. If you have something specific that you would like to ask, feel free to e-mail me. You can easily do this by clicking on my avatar. There is a link in my profile. Good luck to you.
