I.Q. goes down in the case of mental disorder specially in Schizophrenia ? |
I.Q. goes down in the case of mental disorder specially in Schizophrenia ? No it does not, but consentration levels do. Yes it does. In some RARE cases, peoples I.Q.'s actually increase to a point that may be dangerous to them. but mostly their I.Q. will slowly deteriorate to nothing. There's no co relation that I'm aware of. I can name several mental disorders that would have no effect whatsoever on intelligence. No, my IQ is 140, and i've had serious mental illness all my life. The term 'mad genius' isn't a misnomer. (i'm not saying i'm a genius, but many ill people are) As far as i know, people with schizophrenia are the oposit of stupid. They have skills that they have managed to learn that most average people can not do readily. Their skills have gotten out of control, and the filters that most people put up to protect us from things may be damaged. But that does not make them get stupid over time. If they are helped to control the problem, by a professional therapist and NOT given medication, they would be able to function just fine. mental disorders do cause UN equilibrium of I.Q. but can be less , if proper treatment >>> medical as well a social is provided. Only if the person allows it. The IQ can be raised. I thought that I was unintelligent most of my life and I was labeled a schizophrenia. I went back to college last year and am now on the deans list with a 3.75 gpa. I did that cause I wanted to challenge myself. IQ will not go 'down' but appears so because of disturbing emotions blocking it. Once that emotional/cognitive/motivational/motor disturbances subsides we see that nothing has happened to the IQ,it is all there in its original level only. It depends what degree the attack is. There are good herbal products which works on brain cells without any side effect and patients suffering from schizophrenia have become normal and working also. |
