Idk, but I do know that they can have vaccine reactions which is called Vaccinosis. Rabies vaccinosis causes behavioral issues such as fear, aggression, and strange things such as fly snapping and tail chasing.

I don't know if they can get a mental illness due to a chemical imbalance but I do know they can due to trauma. I have a kitten that lost the comfort of his mother at 3 weeks and he likes to nurse on any available tit. He is now six months old and tha other cats seem to tolerate this behaviour if they are asleep when he does it,. I also have a three year old female who was severely beaten by two teenage boys . She only likes my old man and defends her man from all intruders. It makes it kind of dicey to be around her but it's not her fault.
