Is anybody here that HAD schizophrenia? please don't say it doesn't exist because it does?

I have had schizophrenia since 1960. I was diagnosed with schizophrenia paranoia in about 1966 and told I would probably have to take anti-psychotic medications for the rest of my life. I have been on such medications ever since with but a few short periods of going off them; each time I got into psychological trouble. I have also been under the care of a psychiatrist ever since being diagnosed with many hours of psychotherapy. I have been able to live a fairly normal life (apart from being divorced and single) and worked at my profession for about 15 years after attending two universities.

To those who are afflicted by the disorder it is definitely real. I have known many who were so afflicted and there was no doubt in their minds and behaviors that something was seriously wrong. The medications definitely seem to help dispel hallucinatory experiences but do not completely eliminate them

I think they are after some examples that the mental illness, Schizophrenia does exist by having people reply saying they have had or are currently suffering from it.

The symptoms do exist, it's the whole concept off calling someone which apppear to have numerous symptoms as one diagnosis that the medical professions are debating.

Sorry once you have it you always have it. Just take you medication and live your life as usual. Don't let your mental illness control you.

Fish oil is supposed to help, but therapeutic doses are quite high. I take it just in case so i never get it as it has a very slight biological tendency. Plus, I take it for ADD, menstural cramps and general health. Lack of sunlight also contributes, so get your 30min-hour of sunlight on as much skin as possible for your vitamin d.

I did read a book copywright 1994 that says that it's a very little known secret that psychiatrists are not even sure if skits. even exists. This was a long time ago, so I'm not sure. But knowing how much other BS comes from psychiatry, I wouldn't be surprised it they took a very broad set of symptoms that could be anything from nutritional deficiencies to post traumatic stress disorder and said it is schiz. (I hate spelling that word, so long and complicated :)

My mom may very well just have PTSD that never healed. I mean, she had a lot of stress growing up, emotional things that happened in family, and then got skit. after her 3rd child died after 3 months and she has a husband that isn't good with emotions and probably yelled at her.
