Ssdi for paranoid schizophrenia.?

i get ssdi for paranoid schizophrenia. can not work in the work i did. how long and do ssa make you work. if i can not and have not done anything else please help me.

well I have been on ssdi for many years. since back in 1995. as long as your condition does not improve you can get ssdi until you die or the money runs out. you can work a certain number of hours and make so much on ssdi and not have your check reduced.

Talk to your local pharmacist about the effectiveness of your medications and, whatever you do, do not stop taking them. You delude yourself when you give in to your mental justifications for the voices and visions you might be experiencing. The side effects may be a big pain in the butt, but do your best to grin and bear it. Keep telling yourself that the world truly is not out to get you and that people are inherently good. Also, watch A Beautiful Mind. It is a great movie about a person suffering from paranoid schizophrenia and still is able to excell in his career and win the Nobel Prize in Economics.

If you want to go back to work, even in a limited capacity, in a new field, ask your psych doctor about a return to work plan. If you're reasonably stable on your current meds, they should be able to tweak your therapy a bit to get you ready for a work environment.

If you need job experience, try volunteer work first. Hospitals, libraries, even museums are often desperate for volunteer help. If you need training, many vocational high schools have evening classes for adults in everything from computer skills to auto repair to hair cutting. And the classes, generally, are CHEAP!

Good luck!
