During a psychotic episode of schizophrenia...?

...do the delusions/hallucinations last for the whole period of the episode or can they come and go?

I believe they either come and go, or the sufferer can at least appear temporarily to be "fine" ..
example.. when the police came to the door, the sufferer was savy enough to appear fine long enough to convince the police that they were fine. The sufferer might be able to answer basic questions thus avoid confrontation or hospitalization. A doctor might ask "who's president?" and get a correct response even tho the person is in an unbalanced state.

a psychotic phrase which can be for a month or so can be helped through proper meds & also by seeing a therapist or both..Forgot the various meds to treat schizophrenia but can be found online.Use a good site like http://www.rx.com. http://www.drugs.com , mayo clinic ie There's too many scammy sites trying to sell their who knows what meds..

Also.you or whomever, can find an online support group for those with S..This way you'll find how others in that situation are coping/handling it..

Don't wait for a psychotic episode to happen find help now!

Good Luck,have friends w' schizophrenia

It is variable with the person and the "degree" to which they are affected by the psychosis and their response to treatment. it is probably on a continuum where at one end there are individuals who are never without the positive symptoms to the other end of the scale where individuals have them very mildly and infrequently. Somewhere near the middle are the majority whose disabling symptoms are episodic . There are a significant number of people, usually sufferers of Paranoid Schizophrenia who retain a complex delusional system between more acute episodes.
