Do people with schizophrenia do better if they have therapy?

My Daughter 21 was just found out to have schizophrenia. I was wondering if she would do better with her meds and a therapist. Also how can I tell her and make her understand that the therapist is there to help and not hurt her? She refuses to go back to the hospital. I just want whats best for her, and will help her the most.

Yes, it helps those with sz cope with having the illness, negative affect attributes, and interacting with ppl and the world in general. The challenge often is getting the person to value the therapy. Talk to her psychiatrist. You'll get a better idea of what therapy can do, and ideally, a referral to a therapist/psychologist who specializes in working with those that have the illness.
