I would say paranoid...you will be able to have a relationship, as long as you are responsible, and continue to do well on your medication. I have seen people who have finished law school, who have the same illness.Good luck, and hold your chin up!

To answer your last question first; no one, not even medical science, knows what causes schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is not a single disorder but a whole spectrum of disorders. Schizophrenia is more often diagnosed now a days when any hallucination like a drug induced hallucination occurs. I n my opinion natural hallucinations are not like drug induced hallucinations they are more violent and personal. To find out more about the disorders type :schizophrenia" into Yahoo! web search. Wikipedia has a good summary.

Depression usually accompanies schizophrenia. It can affect any relationship.

Good luck in recovering, good mental health, peace and Love!

maybe paranoid schizophrenia or manic depressive? the only way to find out for sure is to see a doc who can diagnose you.

Okay, first rule - ALWAYS TAKE YOUR MEDICATION.

This is the biggest problem with chronic diseases like Schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, stc - the people would tend to be OK if they just took their medication.

These are sneaky diseases because they affect your perception of reality - you don't know when you're going off the beam, so you're not qualified to decide whether you should take your medication or not.

Schizophrenia is essentially a split from reality - current medical thinking is that it may have something to do with a schizophrenic's brain having about 3 times the normal receptors that a "normal" brain has.

We don't know a lot about it past this central fact.

Your medication dulls about 2/3 of the receptors in your brain. That helps you react in a more normal fashion to the world, and that's why you have to keep taking it.

If I were you, I'd google the term and ready EVERYTHING I could about it. The more you know, the more likely you will be to be able to cope with this.

Good luck.
