Prevention of schizophrenia? |
Im doing a health project on schizophrenia & i need to know some prevention methods of schizophrenia please help!! Schizophrenia can not be prevented. It can only be treated. Onset is usually post puberty to early adult hood. Scientists are working to find genetic markers that may show some pre-disposition. There's a lot of work and research in this area and would be a great opportunity for a young scientist as a career path. One interesting thing about schizophrenia is that, although a DSM diagnosis exists (maybe for insurance purposes, maybe for medical shorthand), no two schizophrenic people are alike in their specific symptoms even though they may share generalized problems like delusional thinking or auditory delusions. It is also important to know that people suffering from schizophrenia are no more dangerous than people in the general population. You just need to treat each person with this affliction as an individual with individual problems. Eat healthy and stay physically strong. Do what you know is right and ignore the fact that strange things enter your mind. If you never commit any sins in your life you will never be burdend with schizophrenia , but if you ever do anything wrong and schizophrenia finds you she will tear you a new one , and you will wonder ,What was rong with the old one ,,,? There are some very good publications on schizophrenia, the National Institute of Health has one on their website at www.nimh.nih.gov that is very good, and there is one at www.schizophrenia.ca called "Rays Of Hope" that is also excellent. If you do a Google search on schizophrenia you will find a lot of information. Good Luck - that should be very interesting! |
