Schizophrenia..plz comment?

I'm 23 working as an engineer...I had been diagonised with schizophrenia few years ago..
I keep thinking it's better for me to stay single so that i don't have the hassels of family life..etc..
plz do comment on this.

Here are some things to consider:

1) Is the diagnosis correct? --- Perhaps a second opinion could reveal a different diagnosis, or a different cause for your symptoms.

2) Some of your decision should be based on the type of schizophrenia you have --- paranoid and disorganized subtypes of schizophenia are much more treatable with medications than others. Research more about your particular subtype to decide how easy it is to cope with, and see how others like you have done in relationships or with kids.

3) The severity --- many people with some types of schizophrenia lead perfectly "normal" lives with the aid of some medications and therapy. Others struggle throughout much of their lives to cope with the disorder.

All in all, you should just see where life takes you. If you meet someone, and you see a potential relationship in the future, just be honest about your condition, and you may find someone who cares about you no matter what you have. Then again, after re-evaluating the situation, you may continue with your desire to stay single - that's entirely up to you. But consider the above things and consult your mental health professional regarding your social life and treatment plan before setting your plans in stone.
