Schizophrenia question about voices?

are the voices audible like real voices or are they like thoughts talking?

Hey there,

We all have thoughts that run thru our heads. Its like we are verbally practising.

The other kind of voices can take the shape of a mans voice, womans voice etc. You can even think they come from some inanimate object like the t.v. The voices are also repetitve can be religious or paranoid in nature.

to the indivuduals, they are said to be audible, and one of the first signs of the disorder.

You couldn't record them if thats what your asking but they are real voices to the person

They perceive the voices to be real, not imaginary.

Most schizophrenics claim that their voices are perceived to be coming at them from some external source, as though there is actually someone talking near them. What you refer to as "thoughts talking" is what we all experience in our conscious minds. Those are simply just thoughts, perhaps racing or obsessive thoughts, but this is not what schizophrenics experience when they "hear voices." Some schizophrenics also claim that their voices can be heard from within their own heads, as though there is literally a recording device inside the skull producing talking voices. But, yes, schizophrenics actually do perceive their voices as sound being emitted either through the air or from within their skulls.

They are not real voices but what you think you hear inside your head. Something like that.

Usually they're thoughts that are just in your head that APPEAR real. I s'pose hearing things isn't too bad, but if you start seeing things that aren't there, and they STAY there, and TALK to you, etc. then that might be a problem....
