Do you believe cats can cause schizophrenia?

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/OnCall/story?i...

Yes... It explains much concerning pals with cats... LOL!

that story only makes me believe scientists can find some wonderful scams to get grant money

some 60 million people in US have toxoplasmosis in them (without symptoms), it is the most common parasite infection in the world....and some 200 million people grew up with cats
only about 2 million have schizophrenia

this guy doesnt like cats and tries to put blame on them?

besides the only way to get this disease is from handling cat droppings, which most people don't do, and that only during the few weeks in which an infected cat is dropping the parasite cysts

i cld go on and on why this study is ridiculous; it is worse still that research grants go for such silly projects

cats (and dogs) often play a big role in keeping housebond ill or older people SANE

if you read it, it say that its the bacteria found in cat faeces that may cause schizophrenia in later life. so no, cats do not cause schizophrenia, but their poo is nasty and should always be handled carefully.

always use disinfectant and disposable gloves when cleaning litter trays or removing faeces from garden and there is no problem

No, I don't believe so. I thought that cats was suppose to allow ppl to get well(if ppl don't have allergies to cats) especially elders, not cause ppl to have problems. Some of these doctors/scientists basically try to prove things that are possibly true or not even true in real sense.

Absolutely not. This is an absurd idea to give this sad disorder some reason for blame. It is caused by a chemical imbalance or short circuit in the brain.
By the way, what a stupid observation by a doctor. Most people have owned a cat as a small child or their parents have. In that case the entire world would have this disorder. Like one of the others said, just an excuse to get grant money and hopes to get his name in the paper.

I doubt it, but it wouldn't surprise me. My cat is insane, and drives me insane sometimes, as well.

No. But they cause other things...
*slaps forehead 'shut-up stupid voices!'*

I think you must be mental to believe that!

No, its just another stupid story to get people into thinking stuipid things...

That man is CRAZY! lolz
