What can schizophrenia be mistakenly diagnosed as occasionally?

Schizophrenia is often misdiagnosed as a bi-polar disorder or as side effects from something such as food, drinks, or certain medicines. When getting checked for schizophrenia it is important to include all details such as whether you take medicines or not and how often visions or hearing things that aren't really there have occured.

because there is no one test like a blood test to identify it. The diagnosis is made by interpretation of the patients actions and symptoms. Many conditions can have some of the same symptoms without being schizophrenia. The may be untold people who have been wrongly diagnosed as such and many who would fit that category. The criteria for many such condition changes as more is understood so there is no surprise in a misdiagnosed condition.
