Anything for schizophrenia?

i got schizophrenia since i was 16 now im 24 and try most of the meds. is there any surgery i can go through to fix this

i heard of a cure for schizophrenia in japan where they stick a needle in parts of the brain and burn the parts of your brain and anyone know when that will be avaiable in the us

I always recommend yoga/meditation to everyone, but I'm not sure whether or not you're interested in that sort of stuff. I personally don't like meds that much. Meds suppress symptoms well (sometimes), but alternative stuff like yoga won't hurt I think. It can help you relax and clear your mind. Also, you could look into homeopathic treatment but of course find a good homeopath first heheh.
Right now those are my best recommendations. But yeah, please refrain from surgery.

Cheers mate

Edit: Hmm, not sure when the treatment is coming to the US. Are they doing it in the states, or is it still being tested?
You could try sending an e-mail to someone who might know. For instance, if it was an article, you could try contacting the person who wrote the article. Chances are he/she would have connections.

NO. And I hope there never will be. You are probably very psychic. It is my belief that schozophrenia is a gift. I bet you're very creative. I think it is very important that you learn not to be afraid. Hang in there. I understand your pain, because I have been in and out of psych wards since I was 24 or so. I'm getting better now, and I am off meds. Joan of Arc was schizophrenic. Shamans suffer from schizophrenia. I am actually a shaman. Tell that to modern scientists and they will think you're a kook. Well, I'm PROUD to be a kook. I hope that you will learn to embrace your special mind. Watch "A Beautiful Mind." John Nash actually recovered from his illness - he learned to accept the visions he was having, and he had an interesting life. Schizophrenia just means you are more right-brained. I've heard that children nowadays are becoming more right-brained. I don't doubt it. The world sorely needs more intuitive, empathetic people. Schizophrenia is spiritual. You can't make the problem go away with drug treatment alone, and surgery would be a crime against humanity. They used to pick the brains of schizophrenic patients. This is inhumane and disgusting. The mentally ill need to be treated with MUCH more respect, and there should be NO stigma. I wish you all the best. Keep fighting.

There isn't any cure for this illness. Its basically a trial and error with medications, until you find what works for you. My sister has had it since she was 16 as well. She is 35 now and we've just found a medicine combination that controls her violent out bursts. I'm hoping that your case is more mild than hers and that you are able to hold a job and lead a close to normal life. Best of luck to you.

The simple answer is no.
Schiz. is a chronic disease there is no 100% cure.
But the good news it can be well controlled with the new medications and medical research is still going on trying to find new things to treat it.

I dont think there is a surgery-
if your meds are helping then just keep taking them-
& good luck because I know that must be really hard to live with.

EST but I wouldn't recommend it...
