My friend/crush has schizophrenia...? |
I've just found out that my friend and crush, Abby, has schizophrenia. I heard it from a few of her other friends, and I just approached her about it today, and she confirmed it was true. I tried asking her more about it, but she wouldn't answer any of my questions. She basically just ignored me and kept smoking her cigarette. And also, knowing her, she doesn't really talk at all anyway. Like, she barely speaks at all, but that's one of the things I love about her. Though, I'm dying to know if that's one of the big reasons she doesn't speak and is uncomfortable with any sort of social situation and physical contact. And if so, I really want to try and help her out, and I'll always be there for her. She also knows that I like her, but considering this is my first crush that's a girl, she says she has a hard time believing me and then tells me that she wouldn't be good to me and that she wasn't worth my time... Well, there are different types of Schizophrenia. The most common I think are Paranoid and Disorganized. The reason she might be so uncomfortable about it is that Schizophrenics are very prone to delusions, which make it hard for them to have normal relationships (it's not impossible!!!). Sometimes they don't know what's real, and it can make it really hard on them in their personal life. She's probably also not sure if you can understand her, or if you'll be able to deal with her issues. If she's not on medication it can make it even harder for her... especially when it comes to trusting someone. ... and then there is the side-effects of some medications that make living normally difficult in itself. Many people with mental 'issues' have a habit of having serious problems in their love lives and can eventually get to that point where they think they'll never find 'that person for them' really quickly because they may think that their 'issues' will make it impossible. people with schizo have a lot of mood swings and delusions. they see or think things that we dont think or see. search it up on google coz theres a lot of different kinds of schizo, and i have a hint she myt be the avoidant type. but read about it online. that could also affect their self esteem a lot knowing they have it. hope that helped |
