Does anyone know any Treatments for schizophrenia?

My aunt is middle aged and has developed schizophrenia. She laughs, talks and carrys on conversations with herself and creates characters in her mind. She a has also developed insomnia as well. It started when she was introduced to an Indian reservation through a friend and also, the stress caused from her previous job could have increase the unusual behavior. please help. My family is deviated to see her in such a terrible state. And although we try to act completely normal around her, sometimes it gets too hard to ignore.

We have already tried to get her to go talk to someone and her response is "Why there is nothing wrong with me! if anything, your the crazy ones and maybe YOU should go get checked out!" We dont have much money for a doctor and drugs.

Thorazine

She needs to be diagnosed by a psychiatrist. There are medical and other psychiatrist disorders that can cause abnormal behavior. For example, creating characters and having conversations with them doesn't necessarily sound like schizophrenia. It could be dementia or Alzheimer's just as easily or something less severe. Treatment would be different for these. Also, schizophrenia only very, very rarely develops late in life. So, get her to a doctor who can refer her to the right type of specialist.

Try giving her 3grams of Niacin (noflush) which is B3 but make sure it is no flush and 3 grams of Vit C with her dinner every day.

My naturalpathic doctor gave this dose to me and I fell better

Stay away from Physciatrist it will be only a patch not a cure with them.

If she is depressed ....this is what I 'm going to be taking next month http://www.truehope.com It has help people with Bipolar and Schizophrenia but is expensive with no side effects

If you get your aunt onto Truehope .....she will have a better chance than me who has been on meds for 23years...the longer you are on phyciatrist meds the least chances of your cure

Has she been diagnosed as schizophrenic by a licensed professional? If not, the first step is for her to see a psychiatrist (yes, the kind who prescribes medication). Schizophrenia is one of the few disorders that is generally untreatable without medication, such as Seroquel, Abilify, Zyprexa, Risperdal, Geodon, Haldol, Thorazine, Clozaril, Trilafon, or Stelazine.
