I have Schizophrenia, its very hard, a lot of people dont understand you, and U feel afraid of everyone.?

(?) was a typo, I meant, I get afraid of people, also become isolated and developed agoraphopia, been on disability 3 times already, and people at work think I dont deserve it, been there several yrs. though my condition had gone worst, they dont know, i have poor social skills at work, i feel ashamed. Is this normal ?

My mums a schizophrenic and I used 2 hate her cause i was really naiive back then, but then I went through depression (or sumthing lke that) and now I understand sorta how she feels especially casue we had a decent conversation (i hardly ever c her) so with my empathy now a bit more peace has come of this. DOn't worry what other people think of u, its just cause they're too irrational and simple minded 2 know how u feel. Kk, now I feel guilty 4 sating that cause I know heaps of people who I love who dont know how I feel. But just accept it and Id luv 2 learn more about it casue now I know that other people feel the way I do.

If u wanna talk u can email me. But at least it dusn't seem 2 serious, "yangmi_ku" or sumthing, has a point Report Abuse

you don't sound like your condition is that bad because people that are clinically (i'm trying not to be rude) people that REALLY are "crazy" won't admit or realize it.

there are a lot of different kinds and conditions of Schizophrenia but you should really talk to your doctor and/or shrink about it.

well i'm sure many people don't or choose not to understand what you're going through.

I hope that you have people that DO understand you. : D

Good Luck

it's alright :)
i dated a schitzophrenic.
if you ever need to talk, let me know.

it was hard getting him to open up. he was so closed, and scared i would hurt him. he even lied to me about being in love with four girls at the same time, so he wouldn't feel so awkard when he told me that. and he'd always make sure i'd understand things, like he had to go away. and he was like "you don't understand. you're the first person i've loved and i have to be taken away from you", but i did love him. and i made extra effort letting him know. so i think you just need to be aware to the best of your ability that people will understand.

and that some people will be more open minded than others.

Well I have schizophrenia as well. Schizophrenia is where a person has delusion and hallucinations. I don't have an delusion (e.g. Believing people are out to get you, believing you're god.) But I always have hallucinations. I hear people in my head and I constantly see the enviroment differently than other people even though my friends tell me that nothing has changed. But I know what you mean when they say people treat you differently. People either treat me like I'm made of glass or they try slow down their words as if my I.Q. has dropped. I think "normal" people tend to forget that schizophrenics do have a conscious mind and can function. Opps sorry I'm rambling...

Seek out a support group; and make sure you are under a doctor's care! Many people with this dissorder (I think it's over 30%) end up institutionalized. Take your medicine - it's important. What you have a real physiological problem that you can't help - medicine helps. Good luck. Also, fall back on those who love you, and except their help.

My aunt had it. She was diagnosed at fifteen. She died last month of pneumonia at age 52. I read a book just last week called, "The Day the Voices Stopped" by Ken Steele and Claire Berman. It really helped me get a glimpse of what life might have been like for her.
Keep taking your meds. There are some great ones out now, from what I understand. You're going to be your biggest advocate. Make sure you're getting good care.
Hugs.

It is difficult to communicate with people who do not understand. To feel dissasociated with yourself and reality is a frightening thing. The best thing to do is have a good doctor, minister (priest, pastor) and support group.

Normally schizophrenics don't know that they are, but if you know and are taking proper steps, why did you put it on line as a question. And yes, it is normal to feel that way.

yeah you feel isolated and different. if you wanna talk you can email me but other than that you didn't really ask a question.

that happens to me when i with large crowds i start zoning out and ignoring people

try meeting new people in small groups of 3-9
it helps me

And . . .?

Just make sure you keep taking your meds. It's good that you admit it...

umm.. okayy

i'm sorry?
