Why do some say racism causes schizophrenia?

I don't want to hear no or yes...I want to know REASONS WHY this could be true.

im thinking that not just racism could cause schizo, but extreme paranoid and discrimination against the certain race. also what they hear from the media and external sources can contribute to it.
schizophrenic people often circle around certain racial issues or controversial issues and they invent thoughts and theories that only they can understand.
i cant say only being racist could possibly contribute to schizophrenia. schizophrenics sometimes circle around Jesus and the Bible. it is serious and hurts people mentally. i think its sometimes caused by genes.

Schizophrenia is a psychological disorder most prevalent among people of European descent (although it affects every ethnic group). It's passed down genetically, but not much else is known about it. For the sheer reason that is affects everyone, and it's more biological, not psychosocial (although living in an urban area can affect it)...I can't support the claim that it's because of racism.

Some say it can also be influenced by poverty. I guess it could be argued that institutional racism affects poverty, making it more likely for a person to have schizophrenia, but I find that to be an extremely weak argument.

Schizophreniac patients are every where in the world. It is a feeling of dual personality. There are good councelling and far better medicines with the psychologists to treat such patients. I do not believe that racism has a part in making people schizophreniacs.

i have never heard that - and i read a lot about schizophrenia.
