Is it possiable to love/trust someone who suffer with schizophrenia?

i've been dating this guy for 4 years, i recently found out that he suffers from schizophrenia then it all came to me why he always change his mind on things and different attitudes all the time. but the thing is i really love this guy because even though his mood change i always feel his senserity. my question is it possiable to fully love someone if you don't never know what there capable of or if they can just leave you because that's what there mind tell them to do not there heart?

in my instance . . no.

i lived with a woman for over two years. everything was fine. no arguing, fighting or anything. her kids loved me to death.

but one day i ride with her to the doctor, didn't think anything of it. after 2 hours she comes out. no expression on her face or anything. i had no clue what was going on because she wouldn't tell me anything right off. about 3/4 or the way home she comes right out and tells me in no uncertain terms . . . "well, i've been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia". after that all hell broke loose. the aforementioned arguing and fighting commenced . . .kids starting reacting to the situation adversely. . . .she started getting all these prescriptions and pills by any means she could . . .valium . . percoset . . .darviset (not sure of the spelling on that one) . . .oxycontin . . .soon after she began to accuse me of cheating on her and beating her kids. i told her that there was no way in you know what i'd EVER do that to her let alone ayone. i'm not like that. and 2 weeks later, she wanted me out . . .i was gone.

i loved her to death. if i were to ever marry anyone in my life . . .it would've been her.

His illness cannot alter your love for him. And ifyou love him it is very possible to remain at his side if this is where you choose to be.

Hollywood is not real life, but a great love story involving someone with schizophrenia is "A Beautiful Mind". Russel Crowe and Jennifer Connelly portray a married couple living through the ups and downs of this illness.

Schizophrenia does not mean he cannot love you back, it only means he may make decisions that do not seem to make sense to you.

My advice would be first, never doubt your love. Love and support can actually help him through the illness. Secondly, learn AS MUCH AS YOU CAN about schizophrenia in order to understand it better. Also, try talking to people who know someone with the disease.

Good luck and remember, love can move mountains.

well if it been working out for four years now i don't think that anything will change it is just now you know that he has it. that may scare you and may change the way you feel about him but really he is still the same person because he has had this for the four years you were with him and even before that. so just don't worry about it and if he starts to change really bad and starts going after you and stuff that is when you leave but that doesn't happen that often. good luck.

you have to be careful with a medical situation like this... from what I know of schizophrenia, common symptoms include voices in their heads and so forth. if a voice in their head tells them something, it doesn't necessarily mean he will do it, but if it gets loud enough he might react. also, another problem with schizophrenia, it is a condition that constantly gets worse and progresses... so eventually he might become unbareable... think hard on this one. sure you can love him, but will he be able to love you after a while? i think that is the proper question.

Its possible to love and trust them when their on a mellow mood or have just taken their meds. When some people have Schizophrenia they are different people so its hard to find the right person that you are in love with if this persons mood keeps changing. If you love him you will know whats best, talk to him or his parents if you know them. Make sure he has his meds if he needs them because he could go off at any time. Good luck :]

If you've been dating for four years and you love him then I think you should just stick it out. He is still the guy you love, even with mental problems, and the woman he loves giving up on him won't help at all. If it starts causing legitimate relationship problems then that's one thing, but for now I think you should give him the benefit of the doubt.

Just one thing: Schizophrenia is HEREDITARY. If you have kids with him, there is a chance your child will be as sick as he is.

Think about it.

I had a friend once who married a guy. He was very much like your guy, always changing, happy one minute, beating her face in the next, and never quite remembering he was that violent.

Turns out he's schizophrenic. They have 2 kids.

I'm sorry baby, but in reality? LOVE DOES NOT CONQUER ALL!!!!!!

And do you REALLY want to take the chance of your CHILDREN being schizophrenic?

I guess you can love various aspects of him. Be careful, he may have a deviant personality hidden in there.

people with schizophrenia suffer from dilusion and other mind desieses. It is really your choice to trust him. and if he is a good close friend you should trust him.

Is he on Meds?
good for you - don't give up on him
yes, you can fully love him

How good is he at staying on his meds? If he is good then
its ok. If not then I would not plan a future with him.

watch a beautiful mind. it happens.

Depends how they both feel about you.

you have got to get him on the right medication then every thing should me alright

yes if you just found out it cant be that big of a deal
