Will smoking marijuana once lead to schizophrenia?

I have anxiety and i smoked the other day for the first time and it was the biggest mistake of my life. i completely feel that im in a permanent dream like state and that i walk around in a daze. Usually, the effect of smoking alleviates within a couple of hours but i had this for at least two days. Im going crazy trying to understand whats wrong with me... whether its just my anxiety since i had a panic attack during the high or if its a developing mental illness like schizophrenia. Please help

it could make you schizo, but i'm guessing it didn't for you for 2 reasons. 1 it was you first time and it usually doesn't happen unless it's repeated use. 2 if you really were schizo you wouldn't be on the computer asking about it, you would be paranoid and talking to yourself and not want anyones help. you do sound paranoid though but don't worry, it will go away

There is no known correlation between smoking marijuana and onset of schizophrenia. If anything, you were already in the prodromal stage of schizophrenia and the anxiety exacerbated it. Go to the doctor.

i remember seeing something about the top 20 drugs and cannabis having a link to schizophrenia like symptoms...
i too have been mental hospitals where people with schizophrenia have been smoking cannabis so i definately think theres a link...

You are just having an anxiety attack. Take some deep breaths, take a nap, see a doctor if it doesn't subside.

Not that I ever heard of, unless it was laced with some other drug.
