I am a student nurse and am currently looking for some nursing interventions for person with Schizophrenia? may the Peace of God that transcends all thought continue to guard your heart and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus I am a life=long schizophrenic paranoid who has been on anti-psychotic med's.. for over 40 years. I no longer seem to hallucinate. I ascribe this "recovery" primarily to the TLC of family, friends, doctors and nurses rather than to the med's. The med's. are chiefly good for mood stabilization ( they do not prevent hallucinations) whereas the nurses are most important as "being there for you", 24/7, as listeners, sympathizers and confidants. They are "models of normalcy" for the patient. Lets start with care plan, I would go with safety. Interventions would relate to enviorment changes to help create a calm enviorment with limited distractions and removal of things that could be used for self harm if that is a concern, appropriate medications, alert for side effects of meds, adequate nutrition, arrange for social services support/mental health support, if needed suicide precautions, swallowing precautions if pt. has developed tardive dyskanethesia (sp) as damage from some of the medication, etoh/narcotic withdrwal precautions if pt, has entered a care facility and there is a concern for withdrawl symptoms. This person needs to be under the care of a qualified therapist and s/he needs to be on the proper medication. All you can do is make sure the person is not a danger to them self or anyone else. idk wat that is but read the play david and lisa, it might give u some help cuz da main charecter is sciztsoprenic |
