I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia, is there any hope for me left in life. This is an awful diease. ?

Does anyone else have this dreadful diease?

With a good therapist and proper medication you can have a happy normal life. Always take your medications. Many people with schizophrenia stop taking meds when they feel good and then start feeling bad again because their symptoms return. There a good support sites on line.

See section 40, on schizophrenia, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris Antipsychotic medication may be prescribed, but you may wish to first try the alternative treatments in section 40, for 6 months, to see if they are sufficient for you. Even if not, they may reduce the amount of medication you need, with its attendant risks, and side effects.

Closely examine the http://www.1-800-therapist.org/ and http://www.metanoia.org/choose/ websites, in section 1, and use the locators, and phone book, to find a suitable therapist nearby, (I would select a clinical psychologist, because they don't prescribe, so are less likely to be influenced by the powerful, and highly manipulative drug companies; check out section 1, in ezy build) or ask your doctor for a referral, or contact your county/local mental health agency.

Yes! Yes! Yes! There is hope!

We have a family member who has Schizophrenia and she does just fine as long as she takes her meds.

Find a GOOD Doctor, who knows how to deal with the problem. -- If for any reason you don't feel a given doctor is helping you, insist on seeing another doctor.

Once you are on meds that seem to work, make up you mind to never go off your meds and you will be fine.

Also, you need an advocate, who loves you, to monitor everything and let you know if they think anything should be done differently for you.

Good Luck!

I have a similar mental illness - OCD. I used to be suicidal and really depressed but through therapy and medication I feel good about myself again. I understand that a mental illness sucks but it really isn't as bad as you think. It isn't life threatening and it is very manageable, you just have to work at it

Yes, there is always hope left as long as you maintain it. Keep a positive outlook on life, I mean it. I've been down similarly dark paths before myself. Try and adopt positive lifestyle changes. I learned that the hard way, that you can't underestimate the basics. Cooperate with your doctors/pdocs. Good luck!

My dad has it and lives a normal life. Yes its an awful disease but if you think its going to ruin your life than chances are it will. Have a postive outlook on it and you will get a positive result. Find medication that works for you and stick to it. Mtv.com has full episodes of true life and theres on about young adults dealing with the disease.

Like any disease with no cure, you will have to find a personal recovery program including medication, mental health treatment, support, a spiritual life and a healthy lifestyle. This is not a death sentence! Have faith that you can still have an amazing life.

There is lots of hope for you, as long as you take your medication as prescribed. Check out the following website.

Of COURSE there's hope!

If you're taking medication and it's not working, don't hesitate to tell your doctor. There is more than one type of pill that can help!

Surround yourself with the ones you love; you're not crazy, you just need a little help getting through the day!

yeah there is hope
al you have to do is take your medication everyday and you will be fine..but if you don't take your medication for one day then you will not me okay. you can lower your symptoms by taking medication. you have hope!:)

It can go away. You're not screwed. Medication makes it worse. Exercise regularly, maintain a healthy diet. My sister's schizophrenia went away as soon as she stopped drinking alcohol.

Yes...there are plenty of medications and therapy available. Do not give up hope...many people function with this mental illness just fine as long as they monitor their well being closely.

Good luck to you.

Check out the site, fhu.com. It will help you more than the doctors (and be wary of any medications they prescribe). You should be able to find help through this site.

Nope I dont have it, but with therapy and medication you will be fine and learn to deal

Are you sure? Some of the mental health doctors are quacks, get another opinion.

i dont.
but theres hope.
dont give up!

TRY MEDITATION WITH BINAURAL BEATS. It has to do with your pineal gland kept on.

Yes there is. Find solace with God.

you'll figure it out one day

no we don't have that problem, we are perfectly sane.

isn't that right Jonny?
