I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia, is there any hope for me left in life. This is an awful diease. ? |
Does anyone else have this dreadful diease? With a good therapist and proper medication you can have a happy normal life. Always take your medications. Many people with schizophrenia stop taking meds when they feel good and then start feeling bad again because their symptoms return. There a good support sites on line. See section 40, on schizophrenia, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris Antipsychotic medication may be prescribed, but you may wish to first try the alternative treatments in section 40, for 6 months, to see if they are sufficient for you. Even if not, they may reduce the amount of medication you need, with its attendant risks, and side effects. Yes! Yes! Yes! There is hope! I have a similar mental illness - OCD. I used to be suicidal and really depressed but through therapy and medication I feel good about myself again. I understand that a mental illness sucks but it really isn't as bad as you think. It isn't life threatening and it is very manageable, you just have to work at it Yes, there is always hope left as long as you maintain it. Keep a positive outlook on life, I mean it. I've been down similarly dark paths before myself. Try and adopt positive lifestyle changes. I learned that the hard way, that you can't underestimate the basics. Cooperate with your doctors/pdocs. Good luck! My dad has it and lives a normal life. Yes its an awful disease but if you think its going to ruin your life than chances are it will. Have a postive outlook on it and you will get a positive result. Find medication that works for you and stick to it. Mtv.com has full episodes of true life and theres on about young adults dealing with the disease. Like any disease with no cure, you will have to find a personal recovery program including medication, mental health treatment, support, a spiritual life and a healthy lifestyle. This is not a death sentence! Have faith that you can still have an amazing life. There is lots of hope for you, as long as you take your medication as prescribed. Check out the following website. My sister's schizophrenia went away as soon as she stopped drinking alcohol. Yes...there are plenty of medications and therapy available. Do not give up hope...many people function with this mental illness just fine as long as they monitor their well being closely. Check out the site, fhu.com. It will help you more than the doctors (and be wary of any medications they prescribe). You should be able to find help through this site. Find solace with God. you'll figure it out one day no we don't have that problem, we are perfectly sane. |
