Does having schizophrenia makes a person bad?

I'm not officially diagnosed to have schizophrenia but I just assume myself to have the illness because my aunt does have it. Anyway, since I was a kid I always felt envious and insecure around my siblings and friends. I get angry easily when someone asks me favor that I feel I have to put an effort to even though it's my mom or dad who asks. And most of the time, though not so grave, I think of other people to have bad intentions to me. Could someone explain why I feel this way and who can relate with it... Thanks

Having a mental illness does not make someone a bad person, it makes them a person who has a mental illness. Since you want to learn why you feel the way that you do I would suggest that you get a therapist to help you with the issues that you're dealing with. That would help you really find out what's going on and help you get the help that you seem to want.

No! You are not bad.You are not schizophrenic. Those attitudes you described are perfectly normal and are just a part of growing up. Schizophrenia is not a genetic disease even though many beleive it to be, even professionals. Look up "schizophrenia" in a Yahoo! web search to find out the real attributes of the disorders. Schizophrenia is not a single disease but a spectrum of disorders.

The only thing bad about being schizophrenic is the public misunderstanding of it and the stigma attached to it which are not the patient's fault.

Hope this helps.

You do not have schizophrenia simply because someone else in your family has it. You have to have the symptoms like hallucinations, delusions, apathy, lack of emotion, disorganized thoughts. It may change a person but usualy the person affected is more scared than agressive.

Don`t worry. Its treatable...it`s all on the site
