Should I let my sister with schizophrenia live with us? |
I have full time job and two very young kids, husband works full time as well. I think that could be too much for you and your family especially since you both work full time. I know its tough saying no to a sister ; but please for the sake of your children and marriage ; do not let her live with your family . Schizophrenia is the worst mental disease and those who have this terrible [ sickness ] do things and say things who are not in their control and its not their fault ; because for them its true [ EXp like one night you can come back from work and she can tell you that a man force the door and once in house he rape her ; witch of course be totally false ; but in her mind its true ] so imagine the trouble it will cause you and your family > THink twice before accepting her in your home Tell your sister what you told Yahoo! Answers. Let her know that you can't imagine exposing your children to her mental illness, but will welcome and help her, if she stays on her medicine, and seeks further help from a therapist. If you have to prove your reasoning (behind your fear of her being around your family without medication and therapy,) show her the websites on the subjects...Ask her to check them out, then get back to you. yeah. While no one can accurately comment on the future; having her around might be a blessing or a curse. My bottom line recommendation is that if you are unsure of which way to go, then opt for the safer decision and do not have her. Wow, you must feel under great pressure..on one hand I would like to think that I would be there for my family but schizophrenia is such a serious condition and CANNOT be controlled without medication...I think in your position, I would not let her live with me..but I would try very hard to get her help. I would not even think about it if I had two kids! Plus, it's one thing if she admits she has a problem but it's a totally different thing when she thinks that she is okay! It would be bad, the influence of what she may do around your kids could likely affect them negatively don't let her, it will mess up your kids, get her an apartment |
