Is my mental condition schizophrenia? Please Help?

I am a 20 years old male and I have this mental condition that started worry me recently
As far as I can remember, probably dating back to 5,6 years old, I never could concentrate on one thing because I ALWAYS have thoughts going on my head, like every single second. The thing that worries me is that I never intend to have those thoguths. But still, I hear these voices in my head. I know the voices are not real but it's just annoying that I can't stop myself from hearing voices. It's like I don't have control over my thoughts or brain. For instance, I am taking an extremely important test at school. I tell myself that I will concentrate no matter what. But still, I hear these random things in my head while I am taking the test. It's like I hear imaginery songs in my head that I don't even intend to think about. When I was young, I thought it was normal to have thoughts going on one's head every single second. But it worries me as a 20years old guy, I have an extremely limtied control on my thoughts. Also, when I read, I imagine a voice reading those words to me, rather than looking at the shapes of the letters and recognize the words in my head without hearing those voices.
Is my condition schizophrenic?

The worst symptom of ADHD is constant thoughts or worries. It is a hyperactive brain that you can not shut off. It is common for people with this symptom to hear sounds, music and even their name being called - when no one is there. This also tends to interfere with full cycle/ restorative sleep. Since you've had this problem since you were young, this further gives credence to the ADHD diagnosis. One of the best quizzes on ADHD is at: www.addresources.org look under the adult articles and print out the adult checklist. Keep in mind this is a chemical problem, not a problem of personality or lack of "trying hard."

It may not be. Do you hear audible voices speaking to you? You could be suffering from ADD, ADHD , autism or some related disorder.
Please see a psychiatrist to make sure. A psychiatrist is the best person to make a diagnosis.
Pray to Jesus. He cares for you. He loves you. He can heal you. There are many people who pray to Jesus and got healed.

Sounds more like a form of ADD

I am schizophrenic paranoid. I was diagnosed as such for telling people I had unwanted and violent voices in my head. There are other criteria for diagnosis of this disorder but they weren't considered for me.You are hallucinating. See "DSM-IVtr" The diagnostic and Statistical Manual for mental disorders for a definitive list of symptoms leading to a diagnosis of any of the various disorders of schizophrenia. You do not want a diagnosis of schizophrenia if you can help it as it will ruin your life.

Hallucinations are common. Some 40% of the human population report having had an hallucination at some time in their life but only about 3-4% are diagnosed as psychotic. look up "hallucinations" in a Yahoo! web search. Wikipedia has a good summary.

I hear voices but am not SZ. But your age it is common to have a dx on it. You sound very clear and understand these voices are not real. When I first started to hear voices I heard what sounded like a radio station. Very common.

My advice would to let a professional look into it. It can be SZ or even something else. I'm not a doctor so I can't really say for sure. Don't be afraid to ask for help, I did and took to long and it was much harder on me. As soon as I asked for help I understood much more and felt much better.

Take care and never give up!
