Do schizophrenia drugs work? |
Do schizophrenia drugs work? When taken properly, medication can be very helpful in controlling the hallucinations and delusions experienced by someone suffering from schizophrenia or another psychotic disorder. Medications work to balance brain chemistry, and to alter the levels of seratonin and dopamine. Each person is different, so it may take a while to find the right medication. Below is the link to a good article. Source(s): http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/03/22/n... That would depend on how severe the person has it. My Mother has it and her meds work just fine as long as she takes it. Drugs work, but not like magic. Everyone doesnt react the same way to each medication. It takes a lot of skill to Rx meds and probably more than one. Also, many of the medications have effect for things they were not originally created for They do, but the problem is that psychotropic drugs work if you continously use it for more that three weeks. Then you will start to feel better and better. Good luck!!! Psych student, brother who has schizophrenia. depends on the patient |
