Is schizophrenia organic or functional? |
Is schizophrenia organic or functional? I dont understand your question. please add details to clarify what exactly you are asking. These two terms organic and funtional are not usually used to describe this disease. Organic. Plasma levels of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) were determined with radioimmunoassay in 40 DSM-III schizophrenics, 15 patients with other mental disorders, and 23 normal controls. The mean value of plasma immunoreactivity of PGE2 was significantly higher in the schizophrenic patients than in the normal controls. Schizophrenic patients with high plasma PGE2 levels had more guilt feelings and hallucinatory behavior on BPRS, relatively successful heterosexual relations, and a higher incidence of birth complications. http://www.springerlink.com/content/h657... I figure you asking, chemical imbalance or developed behavior or mental state. The problem is that they're lumping in all sorts of mental problems as schizophrenia. Most of the time the problem has nothing to do with a chemical imbalance, but, in these days they tend to give medications for everything; even for just going through a bad time. schizophrenia as paranoia, I believe is, what I call, a mental development caused by society's evil ways. Not a chemical imbalance! |
