What are the differences between schizophrenia, psychosis, and bipolar disorder?

Psychosis is one symptom of schizophrenia and a symptom of a type of Bipolar Disorder. You can have Bipolar without psychosis, but you are pretty much guaranteed to be psychotic if you are diagnosed with schizophrenia.
You got part of your answer. With Bipolar aka Manic Depression, the person diagnosed will have periods of "Mania", hi energy, top of the world, euphoria; then drop to periods of very heavy depression. The lengths of time each lasts, changes without much regularity. There is a form of this with Psychosis, but not always.
