Which disorder is more common? schizophrenia or psychotic depression? This is a very good question. I have answers & resources for you. Schizophrenia 2.2 million American Adults have this illness or 1.1 % of the population. This is more common than Psychotic Depression. However in recent studies they R finding out that more people R suffering form PD. (PD=Psychotic Depression & S will = Schizophrenia in this text ) than they realized. Here are the web sites I visted to get this information. for S go to www.webmd.com www.schizophrenia.com www.mentalhealth.com There are others too I'm just sliding across the tip of the ice burg. For websites about PD go to. www.4health.com www.healthmsn.com www.healthyplace.com www.webmd.com www.biopsychiatry.com and my favoite for medical answers is www.medicinenet.com I hope I have answered yout question and the sites are helpful to you as well. Source(s): listed above Statistically speaking. Which disorder is more common is what I am asking. I was asked this myself. I have PD. I was asked what the difference between Schizophrenia and PD is, then I was asked which disorder is more common statistically speaking. That is what I am wondering. psychotic depression I think you need to rephrase this because it's unclear whether or not you are asking about people who have been diagnosed with these illnesses or if you mean in general, including people who are undiagnosed, whether there would be more of either of those. And you should probably be asking what the difference is, in terms of both the symptoms and the types of treatment for them. Most people seem to get the diagnosis of clinical depression at some point or another in their lives, but whether or not it wanders into the realm of psychosis is usually ambiguous, and only when it's serious does it usually get diagnosed. |
