Can a traumatic experience incite schizophrenia in people inclined to suffer from it?

I'm wondering if a life shattering event can produce an onset of schizophrenia in people who are likely to suffer from the disease.

The guy above suggests that you can erase your mind, the bad parts anyway. well, that is alot of bunk when it comes to schizophrenia, but it is your journey, and people will tell you many different things. Just be careful. yes.......happens with depression too. A major event depresses the person with good reason and then they cannot pull out of it. Each time it happens it gets deeper and longer.

Absoutly!!! It can even trigger Bi-polar and schizophrenia. I had a friend that it happen to during their divorce.
yes it does i am an example of that.if aperson is very sensetive to issues. he or. she is likely to develop mental illness after a traumatic experience.but one can overcome the illness.
There is so much still unknown about this disease. I know this was the scenario with my cousin. His first onset of symptoms were after a traumatic car accident.
