Why is short-term prognosis for schizophrenia is far worse than a long-term prognosis?

Schizophrenia is difficult to diagnose with certainty so many times in order to obtain a diagnosis the therapist, doctor and client must rule out other possible causes. Another delay is because of the necessity of finding a medication that works with the least amount of disruption to the client. There are many to choose from and this often takes quite a while to acheive. Then there is the necessity to keeping the person taking their medication and getting them involved in ongoing therapy. Once a routine with the right medicine is obtained...prognosis improves. Source(s): GBY
