My sister has been diagonosed with Schizophrenia. What shall I do?

I guess it has been going on for a year now.
I'm living alone, and my sister is living with my family. At first she has been cooperative and had wanted to seek a doctor. But due to the foolishness of my family, she didn't see a doctor. And then they don't believe that she has a mental problem, no matter how i tried to persuade them. They are so in fault! I hate them!
I feel I'm going to have a depression.
Can the illness be treated? It has been a year.

The Most Important thing to do; is to make sure that she sees the VERY BEST Doctor ! ! !

The next most important thing is to TAKE CARE of her finances. Usually people in her condition Qualify for Social Security or SSI.

If your Sister is Old enough; she can live by herself or with you if She qualifies for GOVERNMENTAL HELP.Then once she's finally away from her non helping family YOU CAN step in and give her the help she needs.
i dont know BUT TAKE HER TO THE DOCTOR and it was not ur fault so dont blame ur self ....

i hope she gets well... from the pomona_909

Just act the same around her and be supportive; If your family is refusin to believe that she has schizophrenia then it is up to you to help here and be there. There is medicine that can be taken to help but it will not completely cure her because it is a mental illness.

Just stay strong.

Try some sites like livingwithschizophrenia.com for more information on her disease.
Shes gonna get some good drugs take em with her so you can be on her same level ............my gf was a schizo she was fun sometimes and crying the next you just never knew what you was going to get but we was cool as long as we were both high
As a mental health practitioner for 20+ years, now retired, I can tell you that schizophrenia can't be "cured" as in taken away, but modern medicine can alleviate the symptoms very well. She needs to be diagnosed as having such and prescribed some of the good medicine by a psychiatrist. I have seen, over the 20 or more years I was practicing psychiatric mental health treatment, the medicine improve in quality "by leaps and bounds" as the old saying goes, and if you truly suspect her of having schizophrenia, try to get her to visit a psychiatrist and see what medicine he or she prescribes. I can truly tell you that the medicine has improved so much during my practice, and even moreso in the approximately 8 or so years since I retired that it's amazing and I strongly encourage her to visit a psychiatrist for diagnosing and treatment if necessary. God Bless you.
As a start, you must take care of yourself first, to be strong for your sister. As for your sister, there is almost always a way to help. It is not uncommon for loved ones to pretend nothing is wrong...a form of denial. Don't hate them, but take whatever steps you must to get your sister treated. The schizophrenia for your sister can be a living hell, but treatment should help her to live in many cases, a normal life.

God bless
