Is it possible to get screened for schizophrenia?


I'm not sure "screened" is the correct verb; but what I mean to ask is there any way to get your DNA checked to see if you have schizophrenia?

If you are curious if you meet criteria for schizophrenia, you need to see a psychologist for an assessment. There are no definitive blood tests for schizophrenia, and just because you are a carrier of the gene for psychotic spectrum disorders does not mean that you actually have the presenting symptoms. Doctors don't check your genes for schizophrenia.You have to be evaluated by a psychologist or psychiatrist.They still can't agree on what causes it but most agree it's genetic to some point.
