This is a question for people with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder or people w/ a friend/family member w/ it |
I am very worried that I have schizophrenia, or will probably have it in the future because my biological mother has serious mental disorders like manic depressive paranoid schizophrenia. She has had many breakdowns and has been hospitalized quite a few times in her life and had another episode/breakdown today. My mom is actually still being hospitalized at the moment and was even restrained, which breaks my heart. I looked up information on schizophrenia but it's still confusing to know if I have it. I'm almost positive I suffer from schizophrenia or bipolar disorder and asked the counselor I see but no one ever really takes the time to do a proper evaluation or assesment and say that I don't have it right off the bat. How the hell are they so sure when they don't even take five minutes to find out? I think they say I don't have either of those disorders because I don't say much to them and they don't see what's really going on inside. I don't know what to do anymore. Please help they think you don't have it cause your over diagnosing yourself over fears about your mother. you might be depressed and have anxiety maybe panic attacks. don't pray your sick. your not a doctor they are experienced in human behaviors actions, doctors are just seeing beyond your idea sounds like your narrowing what evers wrong with you to these 2 diseases cause your reading too much about them. do you think you need to be restrained locked up? try trusting your doctor over yourself first take some courses in bio med You only have like.. an 8-12% chanceof gettingit. You sound like you want it and you don't sound like you're out of your teens which means you have no idea what you're talking about. You would KNOW you have schizophrenia, you wouldn't need someone else to tell you. Hey wait! I thought that was me that asked this question. But wait again! I just answered it. Sometimes I think I'm over there. This isn't the right place to get answers. You need to see a therapist who can use standard psychological tests to start to make a diagnosis. It sounds like you are having some emotional problems dealing with what you are seeing your mom go through. I was diagnosed with Bi-polar a few years back. All the medicine made it worse. I decided to pray and ask God to help me deal with my problems. Whenever I started to feel out of sorts I turned to the scriptures.I have been free of medicine I took since the age of 17 & I am 34 now. I don't think you are any of the things you listed! just try to calm down and maybe say a prayer or talk to your family physican if you have one. Honey, let me explain something about therapists and counselors. I am not a psychologist yet but I've done extensive, extensive reading, studies and papers on bipolar and personality disorders. With all that stuff I've studied in my head, I can pick the bipolars out of a football stadium. And I haven't even graduated yet. Also, my family has such a long history of mental illness I recognize it in an instant. One day after a breakup with a bf I went to a therapist. I walked in and said hello. She knew I was bipolar within five minutes. I said to her, good job. The other day I went to visit Graceland, where Elvis lived. I had a great time and at the end watched a little home movie about him and listening to him talk and his family talk about him, I said to my bf, "he's bipolar!" I never picked up on it. I like to come here and read people's problems and see if I can pick out the bipolars and the personality disorders from their writings. Ok, I need to get a life I know. The trained eye can spot things like a cop can tell if a perp is packing a gun. It's about experience and education. If you still don't think that your counselor is giving you a fair shake, go to a regular MD. Your regular family doctor. Tell him your thoughts. He will scrip you to see a Psychiatrist. A psychiatrist is a diagnostician and can prescribe meds. A trained psychiatrist, with many years experience, will tell you the truth. And because your mother had it, doesn't guarantee that you have it. My mother has severe allergies and I don't. We don't always get what our parents have. Sorry this is so long. But have some faith in the trained eyes of the professionals. They see it every day, 10 times a day. They know what they're looking at. Good luck!! |
