What do people out there who have schizophrenia do for work? |
I have had schizophrenia since age 14. If your schizophrenia is controlled by strict adherence to a medication schedule, and by counseling, then any career you want is open to you. You have to make adaptations, as anyone with a chronic illness must, trying to avoid circumstances that may aggravate your stress. But that's just common sense, for everybody. Work at any job you like. Why not? Probably work for the government, C.I.A., the Mopia, this sort of thing. Anything you want, i am supposedly a paranoid schitzo with violent tendancies, i been a retail manager, food manager, shhh any thing u want b dont let no one hold you back I THINK THEIR ON DISABILITY Many receive disability benefits because they are unable to hold down a job. my sister had it and she took medications and became a substitute teacher for a little bit. she doesn't do it anymore but I don't know why. Good for you for being open about it. And it sounds like you are handling it well (stay on whatever program you are on, though).Liike anybody else, schizophrenics have found work in every field. Do what you love the best, what brings you the most smiles in a day, and makes you feel great! Best to you... |
