Twin studies suggest that intellingence,temperament, and schizophrenia are all influenced by? Is this a fill in the blank sort of question? If so, then genetics. The idea with twin studies is that you have pairs of subjects with identical DNA (at least for pratical purposes), so they can look at whether having a twin with a specific disorder or trait increases the chances that you'll have it too. They've found for all three of those that there's a statistically significant correlation between one twin having the disorder or trait and the other one having it as well. However, it's not 100%, just significantly higher than it would be by random chance compared to the general population, so there are environmental factors as well. There are genetic factors that increase the risk of many mental health disorders, and influence various personality and cognitive traits, but for the things you listed (intelligence, temperment, and schizophrenia), there is no gene or combination of genes that guarantees you'll have a specific trait or disorder. and what conclusion have you came up with...me too it;s quite possible but will have to be studied more,,,,,,, Genetics |
