How many people out there know that schizophrenia is a very deadly, tragic, and devestating brain disease? Tragic? Yes. Devastating? Yes, possibly. Deadly? Well...17% eventually commit suicide, so I guess that's deadly. Brain disease? Uh oh. Schizophrenia is not an organic brain syndrome; although there have been proposed structural and biochemical changes in the brains of schizophrenics, none have been proven conclusively.Lots of people know this.... why? Depression and many others are too. What's your point? Yes, ask Marge Williams. i know it makes people f**kin nuts. i dont know about deadly. myabe to other people. i do Yeah, I know that. I also know that it's very different from bi-polar disorder, multipule personality disorder, manic depression, sociopathic tendicies, autism, and a whole slew of other things that people all seem to lump together under the same banner. I know it's characterised by the individual being unable to perceive reality in the same way that most people do, and that this can lead to them being extremely socially disfunctional as they can not understand the basic rules that our society runs by. I also know that it can lead to the individual experiencing auditory and sometimes visual hallucinations, as well as delusions. I further know that this can lead the suffer to exist in a sort of 'fantasy' world with it's own rules and the tragedy of the condition that these people have to exist in our world with our rules, which is not only a place that they can't understand but also a place which contridicts the world that they live in. Understandably, they often feel lost, alone and confused, and this often leads to depression and other mental disorders. |
